# Can someone see my location without me knowing?

A direct answer, followed by exactly where to check on your phone.

Usually only if you previously granted location sharing to an app or a specific contact and forgot about it - most mainstream apps require an active share, not a hidden default. The most common cause isn't a spy app, it's an old share you never turned off.

Most location sharing works through an explicit grant: you add a contact in Find My, join a Life360 Circle, or share a Google Maps link, and that access stays active until someone turns it off. If you're worried someone can see your location, the most likely explanation is a share you set up once and forgot about, not a hidden background process.

## Where to check

- **iPhone**: Find My app → People tab, or Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Share My Location.
- **Android / Google Maps**: open Google Maps → your profile icon → Location Sharing.
- **Life360**: open the app → Circle members list shows who is actively sharing with whom.

## The exception: stalkerware and hidden trackers

Covert monitoring apps and hidden Bluetooth trackers are a separate, more serious category - see [how to know if someone is tracking your location](/en/answers/how-to-know-if-someone-is-tracking-your-location) for how to check for those specifically. glancy has no hidden-sharing mode: every connection is visible to both sides. Access notifications are enabled by default and can be changed per grant; repeat views within the cooldown are grouped together.
