# Does Find My notify you when someone checks your location?

A direct answer, followed by what this means if you rely on Find My for location sharing.

No. Apple's Find My does not send a notification every time someone views your shared location - access happens silently once sharing is turned on. If real-time access notifications matter to you, that is a deliberate design choice worth knowing before you rely on it.

Find My lets you share your location with specific people, and that person can open the Find My app or Messages at any time to see where you are - without you being notified that they looked, according to [Apple's own support documentation](https://support.apple.com/guide/personal-safety/find-my-and-location-sharing-ips05ede4573/web). Find My does let you choose how long a share lasts - one hour, until the end of the day, or indefinitely - but that's a separate setting from access notifications.

## Why this matters

glancy offers optional access notifications and an [access log](/en/features/access-log). Repeat views by the same person within your cooldown share one log entry and do not send another push.
